Trafaria Bluegrass 2025 Unveils Its Program
3 days of music and sharing by the Tagus River

From September 12 to 14, 2025, the picturesque village of Trafaria will host the 4th edition of Trafaria Bluegrass – Onde o Tejo se Faz ao Mar, a community-driven, intercultural, and 100% free festival dedicated to bluegrass music. Born from the meeting of African-American roots of jazz and blues with Anglo-Saxon folk, bluegrass finds here a unique setting, with its feet in the sand and its head in acoustic strings.
A resolutely international lineup
This year, six bands will take over the streets and stages of Trafaria, including five groups from the United States, the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, and Ireland, alongside Phoebe & The Banjo Boys, representing Portugal:
- Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band (United States) – Young prodigies of the California acoustic scene, blending jazz, Dawg music, and modernity.
- Piotr Bułas & Garage Folks (Poland) – An energetic breeze from the East mixing authenticity and virtuosity.
- The Reuben Agnew Band (Ireland) – A promising quartet combining tradition and original compositions led by Reuben Agnew.
- The New West (Netherlands) – Born in Rotterdam, they combine academic precision with the bluegrass sacred fire.
- Table for Two (Belgium / Denmark) – A duo with subtle vocal harmony, nurtured by years of performing across Europe.
- Phoebe & The Banjo Boys (Portugal) – Proud Portuguese representatives, blending fiddle, banjo, and Appalachian dance percussion.
More than just music
Trafaria Bluegrass is also a family-friendly and festive atmosphere with spontaneous jam sessions, masterclasses on traditional instruments (banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar), clogging demonstrations, street entertainment, games, ecological workshops, guided tours in partnership with the Almada Archaeology Center… plus local gastronomy to discover throughout the weekend.
An event deeply rooted in its community
Led by artist André Dal and the local association Recreios Desportivos da Trafaria, the festival is supported by the Almada City Council and the Caparica e Trafaria Parish Council. It fully embraces a dynamic of valuing the territory, local culture, and intercultural dialogue
See you in Trafaria from September 12 to 14 to experience bluegrass by the Tagus, between tradition, sharing, and discovery!
