ETERNO: A New Breath of Art in Lisbon
With Taibat from Loopitour, we went to meet Delfina to discover a new gallery hosting an initiative as ambitious as it is avant-garde: ETERNO.
This platform is entirely dedicated to digital art. It is a project led by Cultural Affairs, a visionary collective behind Vhils Studio, Underdogs Gallery, and the Festival Iminente.
ETERNO represents a new way of interacting with art — an immersive and participatory approach to exploring artistic creation.
Threshold: A First Exhibition by Vhils

To inaugurate this space, ETERNO set up in the vibrant Marvila neighborhood. Until August 2, 2025, you can enjoy the exhibition Threshold, entirely created by Alexandre Farto, aka Vhils. This space was offered by VIC Properties, reflecting its commitment to art and contemporary culture.
Spread over two floors, the exhibition explores the fundamental dualities of his work: creation and destruction, ephemeral and infinite, physical and virtual.
First Floor: Layers

In this large, light-filled room, the walls display physical artworks born from a dialogue between the artist and his community of collectors. For this new series, Vhils worked with one of his signature supports: layers of old urban posters, collected from public spaces and then covered with a white veil.
He then “carves” the material by cutting through the layers one by one to reveal faces — his signature technique.
The project’s uniqueness lies in the involvement of the collectors: each could choose how many layers to cut through. Some preferred a light cut at the surface; others dared to go as deep as the third layer, resulting in a more intense and detailed final piece.
The real innovation is that each artwork could be acquired either could be acquired in both physical or digital formats (NFT). The latter allowing participants to enter a new era of collecting.
Second Floor: Detritus

On the upper floor, visitors immerse themselves in an experience through a series of looping video projections. Here, Vhils revisits some of his past projects, giving them new life in the digital space.
Through a subtle play of archival footage, visual effects, and soundscapes, these “detritus” are reshaped as if regenerated by digital memory. The works reconstruct before our eyes, offering a fragmentary and poetic reinterpretation.
This second level fully embodies the PHYGITAL (physical + digital) dimension at the heart of ETERNO’s DNA.
ETERNO: Toward a New Vision of Contemporary Art
ETERNO goes far beyond a gallery. It is an experimental platform designed to support artists exploring new media, and we eagerly await the announcement of upcoming artists.
